In Zimbabwe, the project provided fellowships to assist in the development
of the Department’s meteorological personnel. Under the training programme,
one fellow completed an M.Sc. degree in agrometeorology, two fellows were
trained at Class I post-graduate diploma level, one fellow completed short-term
training in forecasting and two electronic technicians and a computer hardware
technician were trained. Some members of staff also participated in the
workshops on equipment maintenance and data processing. In order to further
enhance the number of meteorological personnel in the Department, an instructor
in meteorology was recruited to implement locally a WMO Class II training
programme.
