Financing agenciesThe Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland is one the major donor agencies of the WMO development cooperation projects in the field of meteorology. Since the early 1970s, Finland has financially supported the strengthening of the global observation network. In 1980s and 1990s major programmes to assist the National Meteorological Services of developing countries were launced and implemented in cooperation with WMO and with the assistance of FMI.The Inter-American Development Bank funded the assessment of Ozone and UV-radiation Monitoring in Latin America. WMO funded the project formulation mission to prepare project proposal "Hydrometeorological Safety to Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia, an EU-TACIS Programme". Sofar FMI has participated in one restricted invitation to tender of EuropeAid, office of development cooperation support of the European Community. Financial ReviewThe total budget of the development cooperation projects administered by FMI in 1990-2000 amounted to 76 million FIM (approximately 13 million EURO). The annual budgets are presented in the Figure below.
